Location: Titeşti commune, Vâlcea county (RAN 172260.01; VL-I-s-A-09587)
The fortification is located on Cazanului hill, near the place where the Barbului stream flows into the Valea Satului stream, at the point called Cetate, located 800 m west from Titeşti village. On the surface of the terrain one can see a quadrangular rise and the contours of archaeological excavations (Gr. Tocilescu, P. Polonic 1894; Gh. Poenaru-Bordea, Cr. M. Vlădescu 1972-1973). As in previous situations, a single phase of the stone fortification was highlighted. The enclosure has dimensions 56,60×48,20 and is constructed of stone bound with mortar.
The only two gates are of unequal size, without towers and set on short sides. Porta praetoria is on the east side. The command building (principia) was identified inside; it had unusually small dimensions (5.50 to 9.50 m). The dating of the construction was done by analogies with neighbouring castella, from Copăceni (Praetorium I), Arutela and Rădăcineşti, probably in the era of Hadrian.
