Ioneştii Govorii (Pons Aluti, TabPeut VII, 4)
Location: Ioneşti Vâlcea county (VL-I-m-B-09545)
A possible auxiliary earthen fort, located east of the present-day town, on the right bank of the river, was pointed by Gr. Tocilescu. Rescue archaeological excavations were conducted by Ioana Bogdan-Cătăniciu in 1975. Among the most relevant archaeological finds, we recall a stamp from the cohort III Gallorum (IDR II 555), and a monetary hoard, the discovery of which was in a supposed northwest tower of the fort, under a burnt layer. What looked like an enclosure wall in the first survey, turned out to be the corner of an apse building belonging to an edifice with hypocaust heating. It is possible that a fortification operated in the vicinity of the surveyed area!
Drăgășani, Momotești neighbourhood (Rusidava ?)
Location: Olt county
The fortification corresponding to the toponym Rusidava was located at Momotești, today a neighbourhood of Drăgășani. Researchers D. Tudor and Cr. M. Vlădescu, accepted with some reservations this location in the Momotești district, 250 m east of the national highway and one kilometre west of Olt. Excavations by local amateurs led to the discovery of Roman traces consisting of wall foundations, bricks, one with a stamp (IDR II 554), sewer tubes and various artefacts datable to Roman times. The road traces were signalled by Dumitru Tudor north of the supposed fort, the civil settlement.
Traces of any Roman habitation have since disappeared from the territory of this locality.
