Location: Roșioru, Cochirleanca commune Buzău county
A very recent observation was made in Roșioru, Cochirleanca commune Buzău county. About 410 meters north of the village a rectangular fortification, with dimensions of 480 x 360/380 m, oriented ~ NE-SE was identified. About 170 m east of this fortification, traces of a quadrangular secondary fortification with dimensions of approx. 65 x 65 m are observed, a very similar situation to the one from Vâlcele. The information was also confirmed by oblique photographs. The surface is heavily flattened due to agricultural work, and the southern side has been destroyed by the course of Cochirleanca creek. No traces of the rampart or ditches could be detected on the digital model of the terrain. Atypical fragments of pottery thrown at the wheel, numerous fragments of adobe and fragments of sandstone grinder stones could be identified via field survey both in the perimeter of the fortification and outside of it.
Following the detailed study of the satellite images from Roșioru, we were able to make some observations regarding certain rectangular structures on the territory of the neighbouring village, Lanurile, Ziduri commune, Buzău county. At about 310 meters northeast of the village church, at the point called Movila, it was possible to observe a rectangular structure having the following dimensions: 180 m (northern side); 105 m (western side); 160 m (eastern side); 115 m (southern side). The information was also confirmed by oblique photographs. The surface is heavily flattened due to agricultural work. No significant level oscillations indicating the existence of an earthen wave or ditches could be detected either on the surface or on the digital model of the terrain.
