Abstract:

The present paper summarizes the results of the 2021-2022 archaeological campaigns on the Acropolis Centre- South Sector in Istros / Histria (Romania), undertaken by a team from the University of Bucharest. The project, which started in 2013, led to the identification of a previously unknown 6th-7th c. AD insula, and now is nearing its initial objective of completely uncovering the latter’s last functioning phase, before researching the earlier insulae in that area. In 2021 and 2022, the excavations identified new walls and segments of walls, living surfaces (hard yellow silt floors and stone pavements), access ways (entrances) and certain building elements (sidewalks) that allow us to better understand the functioning of the spaces that compose the insula.

L’ouvrage présent résume les résultats des campagnes archéologiques menées en 2021-2022 dans le Secteur Acropole Centre-Sud à Istros / Histria (Roumanie) par une équipe de l’Université de Bucarest. Débuté en 2013, ce projet a permis d’identifier une insula des VIe-VIIe siècles, jusqu’alors inconnue, et se rapproche de son objectif initial : la mise au jour complète de sa dernière phase de fonctionnement, avant d’étudier les insulae plus anciennes de ce périmètre. En 2021 et 2022, les fouilles ont permis d’identifier de nouveaux murs et segments de murs, des surfaces d’habitation (sols en limon jaune dur et pavages en pierre), des voies d’accès (entrées) et certains éléments de construction (trottoirs) qui nous permettent de mieux comprendre le fonctionnement des espaces qui composent l’insula.
