Abstract:

L’etude de la faune issue du site romain Ostrov (Durostorum) indique que l’elevage etait preponderant. Les bovins dominent le spectre de faune, que l’on considere le nombre de restes ou le nombre d’individus ; ils sont suivis par Ies caprines et le porc. Le cheval etait egalement consomme. L’analyse des âges d’abattage pour Ies principales especes montre que Ies bovins et Ies caprines etaient eleves principalement pour Ies produits secondaires, lait, laine et force (bovins), leur viande etant egalement recherchee. Concemant le porc, le profil d’abattage suggere que la plupart des individus ont ete abattus entre un an et deux ans, c’est-â-dire lorsque )’animal atteint son poids maximal. Si l’on compare cet etablissement avec d’autres sites contemporains du sud-est de la Roumanie, Durostorum s’inscrit dans Ies tendances generales de l’epoque : l’elevage predomine, Ies bovins etant la principale espece domestique, et la chasse est sporadique. L’etude de ce premier lot de faune de Durostorum est tres importante pour la periode romaine des Il 0 et Ill 0 siecles apres J.-C. car ii s’agit de la seule etude realisee pour le sud de la region de Dobrogea.
