Abstract:

The archaeological research-work s which have been performing since 1979 brought to light an extremely interesting and rich settlement at „Dealul Ghindaru” (Poduri, Bacău county). It could be established that the earliest moment of this inhabiting begins with Precucuteni culture, phase II, going on with phase III. In regard to the stratigraphy and typological observations the inhabiting of Precucuteni phase III could be attributed to two different moments called classical Precucuteni Ill-level and late Precucuteni III-level. There is a kind of „transition” level above this phase to the Cucuteni cultural forms. The next level is represented by settlement remains of Cucuteni A2 and A3 phases. At the same time remains and inhabiting complexes were dug and dating from Cuouteni A-B, BI and B 2 phases. A sanctuary dwelling type of the late Precucuteni level was investigated and a coal sample (Bln-2804) dating from 5820+50 B.P.-3870 B.C. has already been subjected to analysis. Thus, this sample, the first one from the Precucuteni phase II, allows for this phase be placed between 3920-3820 B.C. Other two samples from dwelling no. 30 and 31 respectively classical Precucuteni III-that surmounts the sanctuary dwelling-type of late Precucuteni II-were tested, the results being as follows L36= 3870+- 50 B.P  and L31 = 3930+-150 B.C . [Bin.2803).

A sample dating from 5780+-50 B.P.-3850 +- 50 B.C. was taken from dwelling no.8 (at a depth of 3.20 m). The samples dating from the dwellings no.6 and 7 (from the „transition” level) dated In 3740 +- 50 B. C. and 3730+-60 B.C. respectively mark in fact the possible moment when the Precucuteni Inhabiting ended (phase II) towards 3900 B.C. , whereas phase HI , developed between 3900-3700 B.C. when one can account for the end of this cultural evolution.
